Child Support Services Program Specialist - Intake Salary $17.36 - $22.03 Hourly Location 80012, CO Job Type Full-time Department Human Services Job Number 03417 Closing 8/17/2018 11:59 PM Mountain * Description * Benefits * Questions Description This position performs a variety of moderately complex clerical duties in support of paraprofessional legal work and bookkeeping as authorized by Title IV-D of the Social Security Act providing services relating to establishment of paternity, and the establishment, modification, enforcement, and collection of child support, foster care, and medical support obligations. This position supports the staff with researching cases, locating individuals before initiating the case in the Automated Child Support Enforcement System (ACSES) system. The Intake Specialist must possess the ability to make independent decisions and have effective communication skills both oral and written. The following salary grade reflects one year (or more) of legal field or human services related program experience: $18.74 - $25.20 per hour. Please note that the hiring salary will typically be near the lower end of the pay range listed. Duties Answer customer questions regarding the Arapahoe County Child Support Enforcement program; including the process of establishing paternity and support, order enforcement, and modification. Research sometimes complex child support cases, with knowledge of deadlines, Colorado Revised Statutes, Colorado Department of Human Services Staff manual Volume 6, and an awareness of sensitive time issues in initiating cases. Interview clients face to face or by telephone for information regarding the identity and location of non-custodial parents. Analyzes written and oral information during the interview; obtains and reviews necessary data, documentation, and verification. Review and identify relative information, including identifying any child support ordered and/or subsequently modified that may be contained in the court files in other counties and other states. Utilize and navigate existing resources through the Department of Labor, Department of Motor Vehicles, and the internet among others. Enter data from Child Support Applications into the ACSES and maintain and update several Data Bases with accuracy. Create case files and route to appropriate Team for next action. Develop and maintain good communication with other Department of Human Services Divisions. Perform all other duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Ability to effectively communicate with a diverse customer base and with difficult or angry clients. Ability to conduct interactive interview and data entering pertinent information. Organizational skills. Ability to read and understand legal documents. Excellent time management skills. Ability to effectively complete work in a timely manner to meet mandated processing guidelines with frequent interruptions. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, The Automated Child Support Enforcement System (ACSES), and word processing software. Accurate data entry skills and alpha-numeric filing skills. Written and verbal communication skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers, customers and management. Ability to work independently and as a team member. Requirements EDUCATION: High School Diploma/GED required EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years of office clerical experience, which includes providing customer service. An equivalent combination of education and work experience that satisfy the requirements of the job may be sufficient. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Associates Degree Child Support Experience Experience with the Automated Child Support Enforcement System (ACSES) Ability to speak additional languages is a plus. Please note that the hiring salary will typically be near the lower end of the pay range listed. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 8am to 4:30pm.
