    Maximus is currently hiring for an Assessment Team Lead! This position will support our CAS Program (Coordinated Assessment System)

    About the Program: Maximus conducts conflict-free assessments of adults who have intellectual and development disabilities on behalf of the New York State Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD). Maximus Assessors use the Coordinated Assessment System (CAS ) comprehensive assessment tool to identify the strengths, interests, and needs of these individuals, information which assists in their person-centered care planning.

    This is a full time, remote position that will require some local travel in an assigned territory to conduct assessments (Western New York and Finger Lakes Regions).

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Respond to services calls, provide responses to questions, mail information in response to requests, and refer callers to governmental offices.
    • Assist with all aspects of survey completion including establishing accounts and accessing the project-related systems.
    • Communicate with callers, providing high quality customer service.
    • Maintain updated knowledge of the Provider Profile Program.
    • Raise issues of concern and/or problems to the attention of the Physician Profile Manager.
    • Assist or perform data entry functions, when assigned.
    • Monitor calls to ensure staff provide high quality customer service.
    • Maintain ACD reports and update logs of staff daily activities.
    • Perform data entry quality control checks.
    • Design, develop and implement special projects as assigned.
    • Conduct research and special studies on assigned topics.
    • Suggest training needs for staff or special education as necessary.
    • Provide technical leadership and support to assigned staff.
    • Identify weaknesses in staff and take appropriate action to correct deficiency.
    • Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor or other management.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Schedule and coordinate the assessment process with individuals, families and providers in the home and/or community
    • Establishes and maintains positive relationships with community agencies and clients
    • Maintains updated knowledge of the CAS Assessment process
    • Contact the family/caregiver to schedule the appointment at a time and location most convenient to that person. This will include nights and weekends at the person’s request
    • Identifies and notifies Operations Support of the need for formal interpreter services
    • Code the assessment accurately based on training
    • Complete all assessments utilizing the provided software
    • Ensure coding is within the prescribed timeframes of the assessments
    • Ensure completeness and accuracy of the assessment.
    • Maintain and meet/exceed set productivity standards
    • All assessments must meet quality standards (e.g. assessment fully completed, individual participated in the assessment, timer frames of assessment maintained, etc.) in order to be included in expected productivity count
    • Raises issues of concern to the Regional Field Manager
    • Assists Regional Field Manager with selected duties
    • Assist Regional Field Manager in providing assessment guidance to team members
    • Handles assigned duties and responsibilities of the Regional Field Manager in their absence
    • Assists with training of new Assessors and refresher trainings as assigned for existing Assessors
    • Suggests training needs for staff
    • Assists in conducting staff meetings
    • Designs, develops and implements special projects as assigned
    • Conducts research and special studies on assigned topics
    • Provides technical leadership to assigned staff
    • Identifies task weakness in staff and takes appropriate action to correct deficiency
    • Meets all standards established for this position as outlined in the corresponding annual performance criteria and bonus template for this position
    • Performs other duties as may be assigned Regional Field Manager
    • Assist with creating Huddle Agendas with the RFM
    • Assist with follow-up on action items per the direction of the RFMs.
    • Assist in conducting the reviews of the Post Scheduling Surveys, when errors are identified in the report, they are shared with the RFM to communicate the findings to the Assessor.
    • Mentor new and low performing Assessors with time management concerns, as directed by RFM
    • Work with the QA and Training Department and RFMs on creating training materials for Assessors
    • Track trends on a variety of operations issues (rescheduling reasons, coding errors and scheduling) to improve outcomes.
    • Assist in tracking all assessments that are signed and finalized within 3 days of assessment per the UAS policy.
    • Assist with scheduling assessment appointments for the Assessors on the team.
    • Continue to complete 3 or more assessments per week (8 or more assessments a month)
    • Work with RFM to Reschedule Past Appointments from the Daily report.
    • Attend the Data Calls and assist in the tracking the data for the team, however the RFM will continue to provide direction on tasks assigned to the Assessors.
    • Performs other duties as may be assigned Regional Field Supervisor/Manager.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • High school diploma or GED required and 6+ years of relevant professional experience required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Additional training or education in area of specialization.
    • Works on a variety of assignments requiring considerable judgement and initiative.
    • As a skilled and experienced specialist, completes tasks in resourceful and effective ways.
    • Able to draft or modify training materials and procedural documentation accurately.
    • Skilled in handling challenging communications with external contacts for escalated matters.
    • Act independently to determine methods and procedures on new assignments.
    • Serves as facilitator and team leader, allocating work and providing guidance and training to others in field of specialization.
    • Perform quality assurance on work of others in team

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in a human services field required
    • Minimum of one year post-educational experience working directly with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.
    • Strong analytical skills
    • Detail and solution oriented
    • Ability to work independently
    • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills
    • Ability to use spreadsheet or database software
    • Proficient computer skills including, but not limited to, the ability use the following on a daily basis: Web-based applications, Email, Microsoft Word

    Preferred Requirements:

    • Minimum of one year conducting CAS assessments with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities
    • Experience in adapting interviewing skills to elicit information from individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, their families, caregivers and staff, and various clinicians.

    Pay Transparency

    Maximus compensation is based on various factors including but not limited to job location, a candidate's education, training, experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value analysis including seniority and merit systems, as well as internal pay alignment. Annual salary is just one component of Maximus's total compensation package. Other rewards may include short- and long-term incentives as well as program-specific awards. Compensation ranges may differ based on contract value but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
