Maximus is currently hiring for a Bilingual Admin - Spanish Linguist to join our EAOS team. This is a remote opportunity. Our EAOS contract requires our interpreters/ translators to be responsible for facilitating cross-cultural communication through the process of converting one language into a different language. Along with simple translation they also relay ideas and concepts between different languages. To be successful in this position, it is important to thoroughly understand the subject matter in which a translator/ interpreter is working in order to convey information accurately. Furthermore, translators/ interpreters must be culturally sensitive.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Works on assignments that are moderately difficult, requiring judgement in resolving issues.
- Perform repetitive clerical steps such as document verification, manage inbound and outbound routine calls, and greeting guests.
- Perform entry-level clerical duties requiring general knowledge and the application of various work methods and procedures. - Provide administrative support to project and operations management, which may include identifying, anticipating, and meetings needs of all departments.
- Interpreters handle spoken words while translators work with written words.
- An interpreter/translator is responsible for converting a spoken language into another language.
- Attention to detail is crucial, along with understanding what is being communicated in both languages.
- Interpreters must be able to clearly express ideas and thoughts.
- Simultaneous interpreting involves interpreters listening and speaking (or signing) at the same time that another person is signing or speaking.
- Consecutive interpreters will begin interpreting only after the speaker has finished speaking.
- A consecutive interpreter may take notes while listening.
Minimum Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent with 2-4 years of experience.
- Associate degree preferred.
- May have additional training or education in area of specialization.
- Minimum of three (3) years of translation experience or has a degree in translation studies.
- Must be fluent in English/Spanish.
- Excellent analytical abilities and writing skills.
- Good editing skills.
- Translators must keep in mind cultural references that may need to be explained, including colloquialisms and slang as well as other expressions that may not be able to translate literally.
- English writing and comprehension and basic computer proficiency preferred.
- Extensive reading in English and Spanish preferred.
- Ability to commit to a one-week training schedule of 8:00am - 4:30pm EST Monday - Friday required.
- Ability to work a schedule between the hours of 8am - 4:30pm EST Monday - Friday required.
Please note: For this position Maximus will provide equipment to use.
Home Office Requirements:
- Internet speed of 20mbps or higher required / 50 Mpbs for shared internet connectivity (you can test this by going to www.speedtest.net)
- Minimum 5mpbs upload speed
- Connectivity to the internet via either Wi-Fi or Category 5 or 6 ethernet patch cable to the home router
- Private work area and adequate power source
- Must currently and permanently reside in the Continental US

Pay Transparency
For positions on this contract, Maximus will pay the prevailing wage rate for the location in which the employee is working, as determined by the Department of Labor. That wage rate will vary depending on locality. An applicant's salary history will not be used in determining compensation.
