Lauderdale, FL Job Type Permanent Full Time Department Detention Job Number 18389A Closing 10/5/2018 4:30 PM Eastern Minimum Requirements High school diploma or equivalent. An evaluation of a foreign high school diploma may be required. One (1) year of full-time paid experience performing moderately complex clerical and administrative support work that demonstrates ability to maintain accurate and complete documentation and records, preferably in a law enforcement, corrections, or criminal justice environment. Direct courtroom and/or inmate experience preferred. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. Such experience must be clearly documented for consideration. Incumbents are required to acquire FCIC/NCIC Certification within one (1) month of hire. Nature of Work Under general supervision, the purpose of the position is to process, input, maintain, and update all inmate data and information regarding current holding status, booking, release, court appearances, or related information in order to track an inmate's confinement status. Position is responsible for preparing required court documents for transfer to other court ordered programs and/or institutions. Employee in this classification attends Magistrate court to hear judge's findings and updates inmate records into the Jail Management System (JMS). Performs related work as directed. Essential Functions/Physical Requirements The list of essential functions, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the tasks performed within this classification. Processes, inputs, searches, updates, files, verifies and compares inmate data and related records, legal documents, reports and forms in tracking inmate location status. Attends Magistrate court to hear judge's findings; updates inmate arrest records accordingly. Inputs court document information into the Jail Management System (JMS) i.e. court orders, dispositions, warrants and writs, and booking documents. Categorizes and files arrest records by current status of inmate confinement i.e. retrieves, separates, and prepares related documents as required by the Clerk of the Court, State Statutes, and Federal Law. Liaison with judicial assistants to schedule court appearances and hearings for in-custody inmates; enters scheduled appearances into Jail Management System (JMS). Identifies outstanding inmate charges for special Magistrate; compares arrest records, reports and related documentation. Responds to inquires concerning the status of an inmate based upon current written guidelines May attend and testify at depositions, trials, or other court functions. Performs related duties as directed. Tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation. Tasks are performed in a corrections environment where proper provisions are in place in terms of employee security and protection. Due to the nature and location of the work environment, tasks include potential for intermittent exposure to disagreeable elements consistent with routine conditions in a corrections detainment environment.
