    NGM Biopharmaceuticals, Inc. is a clinical stage biotech company dedicated to discovering and developing the next generation of medicines for the treatment of serious diseases.  Our experienced scientific team has joined forces with an impressive group of industry professionals, Nobel Laureates and other distinguished researchers to form a company where innovation and cutting-edge science has provided the foundation for a robust drug discovery engine.  To date, NGM Bio has generated a pipeline of seven drug candidates in various stages of development targeting liver, metabolic and ophthalmic diseases and cancer. The most advanced drug candidate, NGM282, is entering Phase 2b clinical studies in non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH).  NGM’s strategic collaboration with Merck, which was extended to March 2022, will continue to provide us with the resources and flexibility to pursue our ambitious R&D goals and further extend our pipeline of novel drug candidates. 

     

    We are looking for the Head of Discovery Pathology to join our Translational Sciences team. This individual would provide scientific and clinical expertise to inform patient selection strategies and tissue-based biomarker development at NGM.

    Required Skills

    • An expert in design, interpretation, analysis and presentation of pathology data, and understand the biological context of tissue-based studies
    • Research oriented, and experience with Immune-oncology biomarker research is preferred
    • Experience with state-of-art pathology technology, e.g. processing of multiplexing digital pathology data and spatial relationship of biomarkers
    • Proficient in interpreting normal and diseased tissue morphology
    • Provide scientific and clinical expertise to inform patient selection strategies and tissue-based biomarker development
    • Understand regulatory guidance and precedent as well as work with regulators for companion Diagnostics development
    • Represent Translational Sciences at project team meetings
    • Track records of supervising scientific and technical staff
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • The preferred candidate will be dynamic, innovative and collaborative

    Required Experience

    Candidates must have an MD, MD/PhD, or DVM/PhD with formal training in anatomic pathology.
