J Harlan Group is currently conducting a search for a Quant Developer at a prominent Global Hedge Fund in Chicago.

An exciting opportunity to build scalable and creative trading applications and infrastructure that support the investment process and help manage risk & capital. The Quant Developer will be constantly interacting with the trading desk, portfolio managers and risk managers to ensure they have the data and tools needed to make investment decisions and build new tools to unlock opportunities and automate the execution of trade ideas. Building scalable, creative solutions to problems involving their investment process is their mandate. The firm views Quantitative Technology as a distinct competitive advantage - enabling a host of opportunities that differentiate them from their competitors.

The Quant Developer will be a significant contributor in enabling their vision and helping the organization to grow and improve their businesses.

The ideal candidate would have a background including:

• An Advance degree in Financial Engineering, Mathematics, or Computer Science
• Knowledge and experience in C++ Development (Open to speaking with candidates without investment experience)
• Background working with Quantitative Researchers and/or Research Technology and Portfolio Construction experience is a plus but not required.
• Ability to craft creative and practical solutions to problems and express those solutions in code.
• Have strong computer science and technical background
• Have product knowledge including key risks of credit and equity products desirable
• Must be an entrepreneurial, self-motivated, open-minded, conceptual, intelligent, bright individual who is intellectually honest & open to debate with excellent synthesis abilities.
• An individual who is a rock star in at least one of the following areas, Computer Science, Mathematics or Finance
• Strong desire to contribute and build a business – not just solve novel problems.
