About Our Job This is an internship position with an expected start date of June 4, 2018, and end date of August 10, 2018. Denver International Airport is seeking a Landside Engineering Intern to assist the Engineers with construction oversight and project management. This internship will develop a broad understanding of design and construction projects taking place outside the secured perimeter fence at Denver International Airport. You will receive mentorship from experienced professionals in an encouraging and supportive environment. Typical daily activities include construction job site visits, attending progress meetings with consultants and contractors, shadowing project managers and senior engineers, AutoCAD Civil 3D exposure, and assisting the team with various aspects of construction administration and design applications. As an intern, you will be responsible for: * Construction inspection of current projects; which may include the placement of Portland Cement Concrete Pavement, hot mix asphalt, drainage improvements, utility work including electrical. This may include measurement of quantities and project documentation. * Review specifications and ensuring conformance to those specifications as part of the inspection process. * Assisting with design duties which may include preparing estimates, research of design standards, completing drawings in Civil 3D, and completing project summaries and visual aids for presentations About You We are looking for a team oriented, outgoing candidate who demonstrates professionalism and willingness to learn. In addition we are looking for an intern with the following skills and experience: * Civil Engineering concentration * Course study or experience in transportation * Involved in school organizations, community, or leadership * Experience in customer service, construction, or trades We realize your time is valuable so please do not apply if you do not have at least the following required minimum qualifications: * Completion of two years of college and current enrollment in a college program leading to a Baccalaureate Degree in a professional field specific to the departmental and/or work assignment. * Position requires possession of a valid Driver's License at the time of application About Everything Else Classification Title: We call this job a Landside Engineer Intern.
