    1410 Job Title: Deputy Court Clerk Opening Date/Time: Mon. 12/31/18 12:00 AM Central Time Closing Date/Time: Sun. 01/13/19 5:00 PM Central Time Salary: $12.00/Hour Job Type: Full Time Location: Blue Springs, Missouri Department: Finance JOB SUMMARY Benefits Supplemental Questions Processes cases for hearing by Blue Springs Municipal Court and works court sessions as assigned. This position works some evenings and some Saturdays. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Answers inquiries over the phone and in person regarding court dates, continuances, fine amounts, bond and warrant information, dispositions, and other information required by defendants, attorneys and the general public. 2. Processes payments to the Violations Bureau, both in person and through the mail. 3. Verifies traffic ticket entry and enters all criminal tickets; prints labels, prepares and sends summons to defendant as required; processes traffic and criminal tickets in preparation for court. 4. Collection, deposit and complete processing of all bonds for Blue Springs Municipal Court posted at the Blue Springs Police Department; depositing all cash bonds collected, computer entry/receipting of all bonds collected, and applying and filing the bonds in the proper cases. 5. Processes all failure to appear notification to the defendant on minor moving and non-moving traffic violations. Respond to and process attorney entry of appearance, motions and requests received. 6. Process record checks for individual as well as for law enforcement and other governmental agencies; being able to discern between closed and open cases. 7. Shares responsibility for preparation of court dockets prior to court sessions, processing of all prisoner forms and any other necessary paperwork for both before and after court, deposit of all monies collected during court, processing of all records of conviction immediately following court, processing of all fingerprint cards immediately following court, final computer entry for all disposed cases for the court session, and any other function needed to complete the processing of any and all cases for the court session. 8. Works court sessions as assigned by Court Administrator, including evenings and one Saturday per month. Continues cases, responds to Judges' requests as well as those of witnesses, police officers, defendants, attorneys and the city prosecutor. Maintains accurate, detailed documents and case files in order for reference by any of the above who request information. 9. Shares responsibility for on call duties after normal business hours (to include weekends); answering questions pertaining to warrants for prisoners currently in custody, processing of commitment forms for prisoners to be transported to the police department's holding facility, and contacting one of the Blue Springs judges in regards to release or early commitment of a prisoner. 10. Assist the Court Administrator and other clerks as assigned. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Education and Special License(s)/Certifications - High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience Six months to one year of general office experience and cash handling required. Six months to one year of experience in Municipal Court, legal or public safety field preferred. Final applicants will be required to successfully complete a drug screen and a background check including financial/credit check. SKILLS, MENTAL & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Skills - Telephone customer service skills, typing, filing, multi-task, team player, organized, detailed, ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines as required. Must have the ability to efficiently operate computer, (experience with Word, Excel are required, and InCode court software experience is preferred) fax, copy machines, multi-line telephone, credit card machine and 10-key adding machine. Mental Requirements - Ability to accurately maintain detailed clerical records and prepare reports. Ability to communicate effectively and interface on a one-to-one basis with the general public. Ability to maintain effective working relations with employees, other departments, officials and the public. Ability to perform multiple tasks with minimum supervision. Ability to maintain accurate and detailed records, also having the ability to type and enter data accurately. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Physical Requirements - Must be able to sit for prolonged periods; must be able to listen and respond to normal conversation; must be able to walk occasionally, and use hands and fingers to operate, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; must be able to reach with hands and arms; must be able to have vision sufficient to see close up and have the ability to adjust focus; and, must be able to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds and transport it 15 feet. Supervisory Responsibility - None.
