To learn more please visit: The Position: Under general supervision, the Inspector II will perform routine inspections of maintenance and construction projects, both private development, and capital improvement projects, to ensure quality control and compliance with approved plans, specifications, standards or maintenance contract provisions. Key Responsibilities Perform routine and complex inspections of public works and civil engineering construction projects to ensure quality and compliance with approved plans, specifications, standards, codes, and contract requirements Inspection of the city's right-of-way, residential, private development and/or capital improvement projects Chair and facilitate meetings. Inspect and document conditions prior to the start of construction or maintenance, during construction or maintenance, and upon completion Assist in the administration of the City's stormwater inspection and management programs Inspect construction sites to verify adherence with the City's stormwater program Attend regional and watershed meetings. Prepare stormwater inspection and management reports as necessary As assigned, act as lead project inspector and assist in the administration of contracts for construction and maintenance projects Process change orders and amendments Negotiate and submit recommended change orders. Review and prepare payment tracking records Read and interpret plans and specifications. Identify conflicts and provide recommendations for modification, as needed Note deficiencies and issue compliance deficiency notices to contractors Review, correct, and ensure completeness of construction and repair plan submittal and as-built plans Prepare and maintain accurate and thorough records of public works inspection work and chronologies (i.e. daily reports) using a computer/tablet Confer with property owners regarding project schedule, hazards, and inconveniences Promptly respond to and resolve citizen complaints Enforce on-site safety requirements Assist in the development of public works maintenance agreements, public works projects, letters of agreement, and other contracts Recommend and process allowable extensions for contractor projects and maintenance agreements Authorize and amend contracted work items Coach and mentor staff involved in the process of contract administration and project management Qualifications Maintenance and construction principles, proper construction techniques, use of materials, building, streets, and landscape, trades, traffic control and safe work practices Methods, materials, and techniques used in public works projects, including water and wastewater systems, stormwater, street and traffic systems design Methods and techniques used for Lift and Pump station inspections Methods and techniques used for inspection and management of pavement construction and maintenance Stormwater practices and principles including the regional stormwater permit Applicable state, federal and local codes and regulations City procedures for conducting inspections, reporting of deficiencies and notice of corrections to be made Contract administration and project management process and practices Procedures for estimating construction cost Computer equipment and software applications, such as Windows operating system Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) PDF viewer/editor(s).
