    Job Details Job Title CATS Public Transportation Internships (Paid) Job ID 500926 Location City of Charlotte Full/Part Time Regular/Temporary Regular Close Date 05/15/2018 ------------ CoC Job Details CATS Public Transportation Internship (Paid) The Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) is seeking undergraduates who recently earned their undergraduate degree between December 2017 and May 2018 (will also consider undergraduates with degrees earned between December 2016 and May 2017), from a North Carolina college or university, for a paid internship sponsored through the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT). The program will provide exposure to the daily operations and administration functions for one of the largest public transportation systems in the region. This internship program provides hands on experience and learning opportunities to individuals with an interest in exploring the field of public transportation. Interns will be required to complete an independent research or a special project. The intern must be able to commit to a 12-month assignment and be available to work a weekly 40 hour schedule. The internship assignment is from June 4, 2018 through June 1, 2019. Highlights of the internship program include:

    • Annualized salary of $29,198 (6% of the annualized salary will be contributed to a required local government retirement system) * Paid weekly * Full benefits including medical, dental and vision * Paid holidays (11) * Accrual of 10 Vacation Days * Accrual of 12 Sick Days * Funeral Leave * Paid Training * Interviews will be scheduled for the week of May 21, 2018 or sooner * Start Date of internship assignment: Monday, June 4, 2018 CATS is offering internship opportunities in three (3) areas: Finance, Quality Assurance, and Records Management. Interested candidates must indicate their area of interest in their cover letter. Candidates will be considered for all three internship opportunities, but must be willing to accept the area of assignment after the interview process. Finance Intern Responsibilities: Working closely with CATS Finance Division staff, the intern will: * Assist with financial projects under the guidance of the Chief Financial Officer, Budget Manager, Transit Budget Supervisor, and Transit Grant Supervisor
    • Assist with monitoring invoices through the approval process from beginning to end and communicating analyses and issues in both written and oral formats * Assist Budget Manager with Long Term Plan * Assist in developing and/or administering processes to ensure the fiscal integrity of all invoice payment request, ensuring proper documentation is received and retained, and that all request for payment are substantiated * Assist with coordinating the annual cost allocation process * Assist with conducting federal budget reviews * Assist with Capital Investment Plan Budget implementation * Develop and coordinate special projects as assigned Desired Majors: Business Administration, Accounting, Statistics, Finance, Public Administration. Prefer minimum eighteen (18) hours of accounting coursework. Quality Assurance Intern Responsibilities: Working closely with the Quality Assurance Manager and other Quality Assurance Division staff, the Apprentice will: * Assist with preparing and performing procedure updates and reviews * Assist with auditing divisions for proper control of documents * Assist with meeting with document owners to understand/explain procedural changes * Assist with review and verification of work instructions and assist with incorporating work instructions into the approved Quality Management Program * Assist with drafting new procedures, plans, and manuals Desired Majors: Public Administration, English, Journalism, Business Administration Records Management Intern Responsibilities: Working closely with the Records Manager and other CATS staff, the intern will:
    • Assist in mapping out processing in order to streamline self-service tools on SharePoint * Meet with staff in various departments to outline TeamSite presentation, portfolio delivery, record access, and organization * Assist with TeamSite Auditing, Record Archiving, and TeamSite restructuring Desired Majors: Public Administration, English, Journalism, Business Administration How to apply: Interested candidates must apply online with the City of Charlotte at www.charmeck.org to be considered.
