    ARCHITECT INTERN (NON-COMPETITIVE) ARCHITECT INTERN (NON-COMPETITIVE) Salary $55,319.00 - $74,344.11 Annually Location Ohio 45202, OH Job Type Full-time Classified Department Public Services Job Number 17-00772 (NC) (I) Closing 7/26/2018 11:59 PM Eastern General Statement of Duties To provide professional, specialized assistance with city architectural and/or urban design projects; to prepare programs, documents, correspondence and presentations related to architectural and urban design projects; to serve as a liaison between the city and contractors in the conduct of assigned projects. Minimum Qualifications (KSAs) (Illustrative only. Any one position may not require all of the listed KSAs nor do the listed examples include all the KSAs which may be required.) Knowledge of: Auto CAD programs and their use. Principles and practices of architecture and/or urban design theory. Facility management principles. Construction materials and methods. Asbestos removal procedures. Ability to: Communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing. Create drafting/architectural drawings. Estimate costs and time requirements of construction requirements. Prepare contract documents, specifications, requests for proposals and other documents. Work with a wide range of people, from construction workers to community leaders. Analyze and solve complex problems. Make architectural presentations to the public. Use computer office applications to prepare necessary documents and correspondence. Examples of Work Performed: Generate drawings as assigned using Auto CAD programs. Serve as liaison between clients, consultants and the city. Prepare correspondence as assigned. Prepare specifications, estimates and contract documents as assigned. Conduct field inspections of construction projects. Assume project management duties and project team coordination duties as assigned. Assist with design development, interior design and schematic design. Meet with clients to give presentations. Assist those contacted in the course of duty in an effective, efficient and professional manner. Perform related duties as assigned. Required Education and Experience TRANSCRIPTS AND LICENSE MUST BE ATTACHED OR APPLICATION WILL BE REJECTED. Each applicant must have an equivalent to a Bachelors degree (five- or six-year track) from an accredited college or university in architecture. OTHER REQUIREMENTS Possession of an architectural license by the Ohio State Board of Examiners of Architects as an Architect Intern. Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid driver's license. MILITARY EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE EVALUATION Military education and experience may be substituted for college level course work at the lower and upper division baccalaureate and graduate levels and apprenticeship training at the vocational certificate level on a case by case basis based on the American Council on Education (ACE) Military Guide recommendations. Working and Physical Conditions Environmental Conditions:Indoor and outdoor environments; exposure to office computer screens; exposure to machinery and materials associated with building construction sites; exposure to dust, silica and occasionally asbestos. Location Conditions:Locations of site work will vary. Some work may be necessary on scaffolds or ladders, below ground, on slippery or uneven surfaces. Participants can set aside up to $2,500/year in pre-tax payroll deductions. Dependent Care Flex Spending Account City employees can participate in a Dependent Care Flex Spending Account that can be used to pay work-related dependent care expenses. Participants can set aside up to$2,500/year for a single person or married person filing separately and up to $5,000 for a married couple or single person filing head of household in pre-tax payroll deductions. Transportation Expense Reimbursement Account City employees can participate in a Transportation Expense Reimbursement Account (TERA) that can be used to reimburse expenses related to traveling to and from work. Participants can set-up a pre-tax payroll deduction up to $230/month. Healthy Lifestyles Program City employees can voluntarily participate in a wellness incentive program that encourages and rewards employees and their spouses/equal partners for making positive choices for better health. The City of Cincinnati will contribute up to$500/year to a Health Reimbursement Account for each the employee and their spouse/equal partner for meeting specified program goals. These dollars can be used to offset qualified out-of-pocket medical expenses. Integrated Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) This is a voluntary program that serves as an alternative healthcare option to the traditional medical plan. If you have alternate group health coverage available to you through a spouse, equal partner, another job, or a non-city retirement plan, you may qualify for an annual reimbursement of up to $10,000 to offset the cost of enrolling in the other plan and your out of pocket expenses associated with that plan. Retirement Plan The City provides a defined benefit pension plan for part-time and full-time employees. New hires and re-hired employees are required to participate in the City of Cincinnati's Retirement System (CRS), regardless of previous participation in an Ohio State pension system or any another state or federal pension system. CRS is funded by employer and employee contributions, and investment returns from plan assets. CRS provides retirement and health care benefits subject to eligibility requirements. The following groups are excluded from participation in CRS: Mayor and Members of City Council; Sworn Police & Fire; Police Recruits; and Rehired Ohio Police & Fire Retirees. Deferred Compensation The City offers employees a choice of two tax-deferred retirement savings programs, Ohio Public Employees Deferred Compensation (OPEDC) program and ICMA Retirement Corporation (ICMA-RC).
