This person will enhance the Depot Park guest experience through friendly engagements; provide high quality public assistance to guests; be able share the details of the story of Depot Park; enforce park rules, regulations and procedures with a smile; ensure clean and sanitary conditions in Depot Park at all times. Preference will be given to candidates with creation and execution of programming and special events, experience with ground maintenance, and building maintenance. This job is performed in an outdoor park with minimal shelter. As a Depot Park Ambassador , a typical day would include : Assists in developing and conducting organized activities, special events, and other programs to enhance the Depot Park guest experience Assists with the setup and storage of equipment for programs and events Tracks and records attendance and participation for Depot Park programs and events Is knowledgeable of and enforces all rules, regulations and procedures governing Depot Park grounds and facilities; enforces by informing park patrons. Maintains alertness at all times while observing patrons in and around the grounds and facilities Checks equipment and park facilities to assure they are clean and in proper working order Assists in instructing Depot Park guest activities including but not limited to arts and crafts, dancing, and games Performs related clerical work; including copying and laminating park signage and posting signage for event promotion, answering telephone and providing information on park activities, programs and events Conducts routine maintenance tasks throughout Depot Park Prepares Depot Park for classes, meetings, events and activities; may include setting up chairs, tables and tents, moving furniture and equipment Patrols park grounds and facilities; observes trespassers, security violations and unusual situations; contacts law enforcement officials as necessary Assists in the recovery of lost children and property, contacts law enforcement, as necessary Prepares periodic and special reports, including daily incident, accident and activity logs Performs site and program evaluations, takes notes, and provides feedback to supervisor, including recommendations for modifications and improvements Keeps trash and litter picked up in and around the assigned park facilities Performs minor general maintenance, cleaning, and repair on assigned park facilities; reports damage and/or needed maintenance and repairs to the designated supervisor Operates a variety of tools, equipment and vehicles in a safe manner. Keeps all equipment and supplies in good working condition Opens and closes assigned park facilities and buildings, according to schedule and procedures. Notifies appropriate authorities in event of an emergency Assists with weeding, planting and other landscape and grounds maintenance duties Attends work on a continuous and regular basis Performs other related duties as assigned Minimum Quallifications: Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma and one (1) year experience in recreation work or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is required. CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES American Red Cross certification (or equivalent) in First Aid, Automated External Defibrillator (AED), and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) are required upon appointment.
