Compile date for use in a variety of reports, and studies; composes correspondence such as writing letter and memos, directives, speeches, etc. Create and maintain various databases, including post-mission follow-ups. Performs varied administrative functions, assist with presentations, organize special events and handle special projects as assigned by manager. The ability to multi-task is critical. interpersonal skills and cross-cultural awareness are important. Must be able to pass a criminal background check, obtain and maintain federally mandated security clearances where required. WORKING CONDITIONS Performing these duties will involve the ability to visually observe and differentiate details; recognize sound, tone, and pitch; attend to details amid distractions; stand or walk for extended periods; ability to lift up to twenty (20) pounds; climb stairs; operate city vehicles; analyze abstract information; make quantitative computations; project and choose a course of action; speak and write clearly and effectively; apply specialized information; deal with people in tense situations; work as a member of a team; get people to cooperate. Must be willing and available to work all shifts, rotation, weekends and holidays. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Requires a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Liberal Arts, or a related field. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS One year of administrative experience is required. Professional administrative experience may be substituted for the above education requirement on a year-for-year basis. LICENSE REQUIREMENTS (Optional) Valid Class C Texas driver's license and compliance with city's policy on driving (AP 2-2). PREFERENCES Preference will be given to applicants with strong computer skills including word processing, spreadsheet, data base, and presentations using Windows XP, Excel, Word, and Access. One year Sequel Server experience. Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.
