The qualified candidate will: 1. Performs diagnostic testing for sexually transmitted diseases in an outreach setting on the HHD Mobile Unit 2. Performs pre-analytical processing steps for specimens prior to testing 3. Performs established quality assurance duties 4. Performs data entry and other clerical duties (e.g. filing) 5. Performs ancillary duties as needed (e.g. buffer preparations, pipette calibrations) WORKINGCONDITIONS The position is physically comfortable, the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS A Bachelor's degree in Biology, Bacteriology, Microbiology or a closely related field is required. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS One (1) year of experience in laboratory work dealing with bacteriology, serology or virology is required. LICENSE REQUIREMENTS Valid driver's license and compliance with the City of Houston policy on driving (AP 2-2). PREFERENCES Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.
