Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is the economic engine of the Southeast with over one-hundred million passengers arriving and departing annually. We handle over 600,000 metric tons of cargo, support over 60,000 jobs, and house over 263 concession outlets. We are actively seeking a summer intern to fill this position. Summary of Position Intern will be introduced to the contract administration and quality assurance program and participate in daily inspections of food and beverage and retail locations. His/her time will be focused on recently completed construction projects to review costs and audit close-out procedures. Time will be provided to complete research on concessions industry trends. The intern will work closely with concession staff to evaluate concession sales history and operational performance. Examples of Essential duties To assist the Concession unit in assessing tenant operations and help update the design review process including evaluation of construction costs for recent projects. Emphasis for the internship is to improve the concession facilities to enhance the customer experience. Intern will attend all concession meetings including construction design and car rental. Intern will assist with operational inspections and customer service initiatives while serving at the airport. Eligibility Requirements An applicant must be currently attending a college, university, community college or technical institute. Undergraduate and graduate students must possess a 2.75 grade point average (GPA) or greater on a 4.0 scale at the time of application submission. Applicants must be able to provide a transcript within 24 hours of granting an interview and be able to supply a certified copy upon receiving an offer for hire. Students must have completed their first year of college before beginning the internship. Students must be continuing their education in the fall following their participation in the program. Students completing their bachelor's or master's degree in spring 2017 must provide an acceptance letter from the institution where they will continue their education in the fall. Students must be able to successfully undergo an FBI fingerprint criminal history records check with no disqualifying crimes within the last 10 years. Additionally, the student must be able to pass a Security Threat Assessment that is conducted by the federal government. Students must appear in person for a security background check at least one month prior to the start date of the internship program. Must have at least a minor in one of the related fields listed above to be considered. Must be able to commit to working for 10 weeks - commencing on May 31, 2018 and concluding on August August 8, 2018 - NO EXCEPTIONS.
