    Police Traffic Control Inspector Location: Atlanta, GA Divisions: APD POLICE ADMINISTRATION ? Description Posting Expires: April 17, 2018 Salary: $27,100 Police Traffic Control Inspector ? General Description and Classification Standards Enforces all City parking statutes and ordinances of the State for which the Police Department is accountable. Duties include, but are not limited to: directing and controlling the flow of traffic; enforcing parking ordinances;? identifying violators, writing parking tickets and impounding vehicles; responding to the needs of the general? public; assisting officers and with interdepartmental duties and City activities; and maintaining and updating records for proper documentation. Supervision Received General supervision. Receives assignments and determines method and procedure. Essential Duties & Responsibilities ?? These are typical responsibilities for this position and should not be? construed as exclusive or all inclusive.? May perform other duties as assigned. Directs and controls the flow of traffic in an assigned area within the City. Enforces City and airport facility traffic, parking, taxi cab and limousine ordinances, etc. ? Enforces parking ordinances, identifying violators and writes parking tickets ? Impounds vehicles disrupting traffic flow and/or illegally parked for an extended period of time. Assists with? disabled vehicles. Reports broken parking meters, dysfunctional traffic lights, down traffic signs, etc.; may perform school crossing? guard duties. ? Requests radio dispatcher to run vehicle license tag checks and verifications as needed; requests towing? assistance for disabled or impounded vehicles. Decision Making Uses independent judgment and discretion in the handling of emergency situations, determining and deciding?u pon procedures to be implemented, setting priorities, maintaining standards and resolving problems. ? Leadership Provided Serves as a technical resource or mentor to other employees. May lead or instruct less experienced workers in? high level or technical jobs. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities This is a partial listing of necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities required to? perform the job successfully.? It is not an exhaustive list. Knowledge of traffic operations, local traffic ordinances, policies and procedures. Knowledge of how to perform? operations and comply with staff plans and objectives for the expedience and effectiveness of specific duties of? the City. ? Skill in effectively communicating and interacting with supervisors, employees, members of the general public? and all other groups. ?? Ability to identify parking violators and write tickets on vehicles parked illegally. Ability to assist with? interdepartmental duties as needed which may include crowd control and directing traffic/parking at City events. Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience High school diploma or GED 1 year of experience in public relations required; or any equivalent combination of education, training and? experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this job. Preferred Education & Experience 1-3 years of experience in traffic control or public relations preferred. Licensures and Certifications Valid Georgia drivers license ??
