    BUDGET AND MANAGEMENT Number of Positions: 2 JOB****_ ANNOUNCEMENT_ Office of Budget and Management Budget Analyst Student Intern Volunteer Unpaid DESCRIPTION: ** The Office of Budget and Management seeks a motivated candidate with solid analytical and research skills, attention to detail, and interpersonal and written communication skills. The intern will assist with or lead various projects that involve researching best practices; analyzing large data sets; conducting program, policy, and/or legislative/legal reviews; and producing written reports. To the extent possible, interns will be assigned projects according to their interests. Interns should ideally be available to work part-time (between 10 to 35 hours a week). ESSENTIAL DUTIES: * Assist with or lead various projects to evaluate existing or proposed City programs and services and/or operational aspects of City departments * Compile, tabulate and analyze statistical or program data; identify and discern the significance of trends and data variations * Review relevant laws and policies at the local, state or federal levels, in addition to proposed legislation that may be relevant to the project scope * Research best practices and collect relevant information from other local governments, private sector employers and/or research universities * Develop comprehensive reports that present findings and include viable recommendations for consideration to improve programs, services, or operations * Use various software tools and programs to create/access/maintain documents, spreadsheets, databases, and presentations * Assist with other projects and/or engage on various tasks as assigned to support the overall work of the Office of Budget and Management Location: Office of Budget and Management 121 N. LaSalle, Suite 604, Chicago, IL 60602 Shift: Days Hours: 9:00am-5:00pm Days Off: Saturday and Sunday NOTE: This is a temporary position. Internships are limited to one academic year. Students are limited to working one internship (lasting no more than one academic year) per City Department. . THIS POSITION IS EXEMPT FROM THE CAREER SERVICE * Must be a graduate student in good academic standing, currently enrolled in an accredited college, university or law school with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 grading scale or a 4.0 on a 5.0 grading scale. * Candidates' must have demonstrated a substantial commitment to excellence as evidenced by academic honors leadership ability, extracurricular activities and involvement in community or public service. * Students must maintain the required GPA throughout the duration of their employment/internship. * Proficiency using Microsoft Office Applications - Work, Excel and Power Point. * Must be enrolled in school with a minimum of 6 credit hours (or quarter hour equivalency) throughout the duration of internship, with the exception of academic breaks, i.e. summer APPLICATION PERIOD: Tuesday, June 5, 2018 through Tuesday, June 26, 2018 ** ** 2018 SALARY: Unpaid program.
