Inspects various establishments or locations to detect water pollution violations and sanitary sewer discharge parameters. 2. Investigates community complaints of poor sanitation in public establishments or on private property; explains City health ordinances and recommends corrective action; performs follow-up inspections; issues warnings or citations. 3. Issues citations to operators out of compliance with Chapter 47 Art IX Transportation of Special Waste. 4. May appear in court for testimony regarding violations; provides testimony in enforcement hearings. 5. May assist with other program inspections based on Bureau's needs including, Pools, EMS and Food Programs. WORKING CONDITIONS The position routinely requires lifting of moderately heavy items, such as typewriters or records boxes (up to 40 pounds) and/or very long periods of walking on rough surfaces on a routine basis. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Requires a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Health Engineering or a closely related degree. MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS No experience is required. MINIMUM LICENSE REQUIREMENTS A valid driver license and compliance with the City of Houston's policy on driving (AP 2-2).
