Received: Note: Other reporting relationships may apply Example of Duties The City of Richmond Department of Budget & Strategic Planning is seeking an Intern to provide a variety of clerical and computer skills within the department for the 2018 - 2019 semesters. The City of Richmond Internship Program is a mayoral initiative that is available to current undergraduate and graduate students who are enrolled in an accredited college or university. The program is also available to recent college graduates who will enroll in a graduate degree program within twelve (12) months of employment with the City. Interns will serve in 24-week (24) appointments during which they will: Gain knowledge and skills pertaining to City department projects. Reflect upon their personal experiences through reflective journals and papers. Interface with City of Richmond senior executives in their respective department. Duties include, but are not limited to: Administering clerical skills (opening mail, filing, scanning documents, etc.); Working knowledge of MS Office 2010 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.); Assisting with duties related to the preparation of the FY 2018-2019 Biennial Budget and Capital Improvement Plan; Working with Budget staff to assist with various departmental duties; and Supporting the department with special events or assignments as needed. **Please note the estimated hiring range for the position is up to $12 per hour based upon education, training, and experience. Qualifications, Special Certifications and Licenses INTERN ELIGIBILITY To be classified as an Intern in this program, each of the following criteria must be met: The student must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program, be in good academic standing (as defined below), and be registered for courses during the internship period. Summer Interns do not have to be enrolled in summer school, but must be enrolled for the upcoming Fall semester. After graduating from a degree program, the student no longer qualifies for an internship with this program unless they have been accepted into a graduate program which is scheduled to begin within twelve (12) months of hire date. Students must provide a college transcript and approval from the Academic Advisor or Career Development Counselor prior to interview date. Students must be lawfully authorized to work in the United States and are required to present proof of such eligibility prior to beginning work. Undergraduate students must have completed 60 credit hours and have a 2.0 overall grade point average. Graduate students must be enrolled at an accredited institution and have a 3.0 overall grade point average. *A cover letter is required and must include the following information; academic major and area of professional interest. No Special Certification or License required. The preferred candidate will have the following: Experience with Microsoft Office, preferably Excel Office, organizational & communication skills, and or general work experience. Customer service skills (answering telephone and greeting internal and external customers). Working well with other co-workers in a team environment. Ability to work independently. Knowledge of Public Administration discipline and/or Budget/Finance desirable.
