RESPONSIBILITIES The following duties ARE NOT intended to serve as a
comprehensive list of all duties performed by all team members in this

responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties
listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific
duties. Under general supervision provides a variety of paraprofessional
civil engineering and technical support functions for the Public Works
Engineering Division. Develops core work competencies by performing a
variety of administrative duties and special projects for the
Department; incumbents are responsible for performing work within
clearly defined technical and procedural limits. * Assists in the
preparation of plans, specifications, estimates and reports involved in
the construction of a wide variety of Capital Improvement Projects
(CIP's) such as streets, sewer and storm drain systems, buildings, etc.
- Prepares and reviews various technical documents and reports; verifies
and validates mathematical calculations * Performs a variety of
technical and specialized office assistant duties; prepares, assembles
and distributes various communication documents; compiles, updates and
maintains statistical information and reports * Responds and provides
information and assistance to customers/residents and others having
business with the City; researches, locates, and responds to requests
for information within the scope of authority and training * Performs
inspections and survey operations related to CIP's * Makes field
inspections of construction projects to monitor compliance with plans
and City standards * Assists with special event and program activities.
- Updates and maintains a variety of electronic and paper files,
records, reports and documents; processes forms, records and files;
collects statistical data and compiles data for reports. * Develops
knowledge of the policies, procedures and specific functions of the
Department. * Cross trains in a wide variety of administrative duties. *
Supports the relationship between the City of Rosemead and the
constituent population by providing excellent customer service; promotes
the City goals and priorities in compliance with all policies and
procedures; maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues,
client records and City information; performs related duties as required
or assigned. WORK SCHEDULE: This position is limited to working no more
than 28 hours per week. Must be able to work at least 20 hours a week,
with a consistent schedule, during the City's regular business hours
from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday Thursday. City Hall is closed on Fridays.
Candidates must be available to work all assigned shifts, including
evenings and weekends to assist in special projects, events, and
holidays. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience: Two years of
college coursework; OR an equivalent combination of education and
experience. At the minimum, must be currently enrolled in an accredited
college or university program to obtain an Associate's or Bachelor's
Degree in Engineering, or related field. Technical engineering support
experience is highly desirable. Some customer service experience is
preferred. Required Licenses or Certifications: * Must possess or have
the ability to obtain an appropriate California Driver's License and a
satisfactory driving record. Required Knowledge of: * Proficiency in the
use of computer-aided drafting and design, database, spreadsheet, and
word processing (AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, etc) * Utilization of or the
ability to learn internal and specialized software applications is
highly desirable * Ability to apply effective procedures for records
management and sound customer service principles and methods. *
Operations, policies, procedures and functions of assigned department
and programs. Required Skill in: * Maintaining electronic records, files
and databases. * Entering information into a computer system with speed
and accuracy. * Operating basic office equipment, and a personal
computer utilizing standard software. * Providing effective customer
service, and dealing tactfully and courteously with the public. *
Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with
co-workers. * Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
Physical Demands / Work Environment: * Work is usually performed in a
standard office environment; may vary according to job assignment. May
be required to travel to various sites, locations and/or events. * Team
members are required to be in attendance and prepared to begin work at
