Job Description
The 8118 Legislative Clerk is responsible for performing specialized clerical work that involves extensive knowledge of departmental functions and the legislative process.
Under general supervision, duties include evaluating and preparing proposed legislation for processing by the Office of the Clerk of the Board and ultimately for consideration and action by the Board of Supervisors. This position is responsible for ensuring proposed legislation and appeals are in compliance with all relevant laws, before the item is eligible to move forward in the legislative process.
The Legislative Clerk will make regular contact with City departments and outside individuals to obtain and furnish information on specialized legislative matters, Board Agenda preparation, and collecting and reviewing technical legislative documents for completeness and accuracy.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to work in a standard office environment which may involve prolonged sitting, bending and operation of typing, word processing and other office equipment; and ability to work outside normal business hours and evening meetings when necessary. Ability to adapt to change, work as part of a team. Must be able to effectively manage stressful situations.

VERIFICATION OF TYPING ABILITIES: Candidates must submit certification of their typing abilities. Certificates must be dated within the past six months. COMPENSATION: The normal annual salary range is $83,980-102,050
APPOINTMENT TYPE: Permanent Exempt (PEX): This position is excluded by the Charter from the competitive Civil Service examination process and shall serve at the discretion of the Appointing Officer. The duration of the appointment shall not exceed 36 months.
