    Job Description

    Under general supervision, the Nurse Manager (Long Term Care/Geriatric Nursing) supervises the delivery of patient care at a licensed general acute care/skilled nursing facility with rehabilitation services.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES The Nurse Manager [Long Term Care/Geriatric Nursing] performs the following essential job functions:

    • Directs and manages nursing care on assigned units 24 hours/7 days a week;
    • Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates care using resident outcomes data;
    • Provides clinical leadership within the institution;
    • Ensures unit compliance to regulatory standards;
    • Represents the Nursing Division in a variety of meetings and committees;
    • Ensures fiscal responsibility in managing resources;
    • Maintains, monitors and promotes a resident-centered philosophy which supports the autonomy, dignity and rights of residents and others; AND
    • Ensures staff coverage for 24 hour, 7 days a week operations for both units using OneStaff Staff Scheduling Systems.

    The 2322 Nurse Manager (Long Term Care/Geriatric Nursing) performs other related duties as required.

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    1.  LICENSE: Possession of a valid, including temporary or interim, California Registered Nurse License issued by the Board of Registered Nursing (BRN); AND

    2.  EDUCATION: Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and/or university in Nursing, Nursing Administration or a closely related field; AND

    3.  EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years (equivalent to 4,000 hours) of experience as a Registered Nurse in a long term care, rehabilitation or acute care hospital, within the last five (5) years.

    SUBSTITUTION: Two (2) years of additional experience as an Assistant Nurse Manager/Charge Nurse in a long-term care facility, licensed home health agency or other hospital setting may be substituted for the educational requirement. One (1) year (2,000 hours) of work experience is equivalent to 30 Semester Credits or 45 Quarter Credits.

    DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: The stated desirable qualifications may be used to identify job finalists at the end of the selection process when candidates are referred for hiring.

    • Possession of a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Nursing, public administration or a closely related field.
    • Experience in care delivery of residents on dementia and medically-complex residents.
    • Skills and knowledge in caring for residents with behavioral, substance abuse and cognitive impairment.
    • Knowledge of skilled nursing regulations and associated documentation requirements.
    • Knowledge of computers, software, hardware and related systems.
    • Demonstrated skill in problem-solving and conflict resolutions.
    • Demonstrated customer service skills.
