    Job Description

    Under general supervision of the Chief Medical Officer, San Francisco Health Network performs the following duties:

    • To support the design, implementation, support and optimization of the Epic enterprise Electronic Health Record (EHR) for the San Francisco Department of Public Health.
    • To collect information from departments, clinicians, health workers, vendors, and internal and external customers regarding electronic system development, implementation, issues, recommendations and utilization of best practices.
    • As a member of a multi-disciplinary team, translate functional requirements into application build.
    • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing with a diverse set of clients; establish and maintain good working relations with department personnel, staff, vendors, peers and management.
    • Maintains all system configuration and build parameters for application modules.
    • Use logic and analysis to solve computer and application module problems.
    • Exercise judgment, decisiveness and creativity in an environment subject to frequent change.
    • Research, analyze, and develop proposed solutions for regulatory requirements.
    • Prepare test plans, documentation and training materials; work with venders to prepare technical specifications and scopes of work.
    • Prioritize competing requests for services

    Application module optimization in conjunction with stakeholders

    • Project management of small projects.
    • Manage critical timelines effectively.
    • Manage communication between applications.
    • Application/module implementation and testing.
    • Clearly document work and adhere to change control procedures.
    • Maintains and updates Service Now, Sherlock, Orion, Nova, or other Epic build trackers or Epic project plans.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned or required.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must meet the minimum qualification requirement by the final filing date unless otherwise noted.

    EDUCATION: An associate degree in computer science or a closely related field from an accredited college or university OR its equivalent in terms of total course credits/units [i.e., at least sixty (60) semester or ninety (90) quarter credits/units with a minimum of twenty (20) semester or thirty (30) quarter credits/units in computer science or a closely-related field].

    EXPERIENCE: One (1) year in the information systems field, including technical support, content management, administration of network applications or system analysis. EDUCATION SUBSTITUTION: Additional experience as described above may be substituted for the required degree on a year-for-year basis (up to a maximum of two (2) years). One (1) year is equivalent to thirty (30) semester units / forty-five (45) quarter units with a minimum of 10 semester / 15 quarter units in computer science or a closely related field.

    (One year of full-time employment is equivalent to 2,000 hours of work experience (2,000 hours of qualifying work experience is based on a 40 hour work week). Any overtime hours that you work above 40 hours a week are not included in the calculation to determine full-time employment.)

    DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

    • Epic module certification OR proficiency applicable to position.
    • Knowledge of healthcare workflows: hospital-based care & administration, outpatient care and administration, OR revenue cycle administration.
    • Understanding of a wide array of integration points including but not limited to utilizing standards such as HL7, CCDA, & FHIR APIs.
    • Information Technology change control policies & procedures.
    • Knowledge of flow diagramming applications: Visio.
    • Knowledge of collaboration platforms: Microsoft Teams & SharePoint.
    • Experience with full lifecycle of Epic implementation and/or Epic upgrade.
    • Knowledge of Lean fundamentals including, but not limited to, A3 thinking, Value Stream Mapping and Kaizen events.
    • Proficiency with basic word processing and presentation applications (i.e. MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
    • Knowledge of flow diagramming applications and collaboration platforms, SharePoint.
    • Prior experience in software application support.
    • Prior experience in a healthcare setting.
