Training, Exercise and Credentialing Specialist - Department of Emergency Management (8602)
Job Description
The San Francisco Department of Emergency Management, Division of Emergency Services, is currently hiring a Training, Exercise & Credentialing (TEC) Specialist. Under the direction of the TEC Coordinator, the TEC Specialist is responsible for coordinating training and exercises that benefit the City's emergency management efforts and supporting the development and implementation of a multi-year Integrated Preparedness Plan. These tasks include supporting the cyclical development, maintenance, and revision of emergency and disaster training and exercises from start to finish, including corrective action planning and execution. This position will work collaboratively with staff within and outside of the Department of Emergency Management and therefore requires flexibility, coordination, and the ability to work well with others. Strong communication skills and initiative are requirements for this position.
Additional functions of the TEC Specialist position include, but are not limited to:
Working Conditions: Work hours are anticipated to be 8 am-5 pm, Monday-Friday, requiring flexibility during emergencies. Position may be required to work during non-business hours, such as nights, holidays, and/or weekends.
Qualifications
EDUCATION: 1a. Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university AND Two (2) years of experience in an emergency/disaster planning and management or closely related field; OR
1b. Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Public Administration, Emergency Management or a closely related field AND one (1) year of experience in an emergency/disaster planning and management or closely related field; OR
1c. Possession of a master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Public Administration, Emergency Management or a closely related field.
Completion of United States Department of Homeland Security, FEMA, Emergency Management Institute Courses: IS 100.b or ICS 100, and IS 200.b or ICS 200, and IS 700/800; AND
Possession and maintenance of a valid California driver’s license
EDUCATION SUBSTITUTION: Additional experience in emergency/disaster planning and management, as described above, may substitute for the required degree on a year- for-year. Thirty (30) semester units or forty-five (45) quarter units equal one (1) year.
Additional Information
APPOINTMENT TYPE: This is a Permanent Exempt appointment and is exempt from Civil Service Commission rules pursuant to the City and County of San Francisco, Charter Section 10.104, and incumbents are considered “at will” and serve at the discretion of the Appointing Officer. The anticipated duration is three (3) years with the possibility of extension.
