    Job Description

    Under general supervision, the SFERS Quality Assurance Auditor Assistant assists in planning, organizing and conducting routine operational compliance and performance audits.

    Examples of primary duties may include:

    • Conducts research legal mandates and other background information, determines needs of key stakeholders, identifies potential risk areas, understands relevant internal controls, and identifies potential sources of evidence under close supervision.
    • Interviews staff in the Operations Division to gather information.
    • Assists in developing audit scope and objectives and detailed audit programs; prepares time budgets and milestone dates.
    • Performs audit fieldwork, including collecting, analyzing, and documenting audit evidence as it relates to the audit objectives.
    • Reviews internal controls.
    • Assists in analyzing audit findings and makes recommendations that are fully supported by analysis.
    • Prepares written audit reports that effectively communicate the audit results.
    • Assists in preparing audit results.
    • Conducts audit follow-up activities.
    • Maintains the appropriate level of confidentiality and sensitivity.
    • Maintains professional proficiency through continuing professional education and participates in professional associations.
    • May perform additional duties as assigned.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in public or business administration, accounting, finance, economics, social sciences, education, or related field, or other areas closely related to specific department program or function. Substitution: May substitute up to two (2) years of the required education with additional qualifying experience in program/office/operations management, budget development and/or administration, or contract/grant administration. One year (2000 hours) of additional qualifying experience will be considered equivalent to 30 semester units/45 quarter units.

    DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

    The stated desirable qualifications may be used to identify job finalists at the end of the selection process when candidates are referred for hiring.

    • Experience working with a private or public defined benefit plan or defined contribution plan.
    • Experience processing and handling numerical data records.
    • Extensive customer service experience.
    • Working knowledge of Oracle PeopleSoft.
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Microsoft Word using mail merge, and Microsoft Excel creating formulas and creating links between cells on the same or different worksheets.
