Stationary Engineer - Dept. of Homelessness and Supportive Housing (7334)
Job Description
Under general supervision, the Stationary Engineer maintains and schedules regular preventive maintenance of building systems, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing at HSH facilities. The Stationary Engineer works closely with the Buildings and Grounds Maintenance Supervisor on managing a budget for building repairs. The Stationary Engineer prices out jobs, maintains expenditure records of repaired systems along with dates of repairs, keeps building maintenance log books, and maintains and updates building profile of managed site as needed. The Stationary Engineer rotates with other engineers during 24 hours on-call months, keeping all party involved informed with electronically written feedback of calls received. The Stationary Engineer maintains the disaster and emergency preparedness binder and ensures that all equipment remain in good and working condition, documents and communicates to the Buildings and Grounds Maintenance Supervisor any potential health and safety issue noticed on the site and performs and documents quarterly checks of fire life safety equipment.
SHIFT: Monday-Fridays: 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM or 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM with rotating monthly 24-hour on-call schedule (required to respond to after hour emergencies within an one-hour window)
WORKING CONDITIONS: Nature of work involves physical effort in the repair and maintenance of machinery and equipment; the ability to lift heavy objects; exposure to working conditions where minor abrasions, bruises, and burns may occur; occasional uncomfortable work inside closed and dirty spaces; exposure to potential uncomfortable weather conditions and traffic conditions; and requires physical stamina to stand, stoop, bend and climb ladders while working in confined spaces, entryways and tight crawl spaces.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Experience: Four (4) years of verified journey-level stationary engineer experience in the maintenance, repair and operation of a variety of mechanical and electrical pumping, heating, air conditioning, ventilating and related plant machinery used in a government establishment, hospital, industrial, production or commercial building
