  • Responsibilities

    Job Description

    ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Financial

    • Works with SFAC accounting staff, City Controller’s Office and other City Departments to properly process purchase orders and payments to vendors, contractors, artists and interns
    • Provides regular financial reports to the Galleries Director
    • Assists artists and contractors with the process of becoming compliant suppliers in the City’s financial system

    Exhibitions

    • Develops exhibition and deadline calendar with the Gallery Director
    • Works closely with the SFAC Lead Preparator to secure contract preparator labor, rental equipment, AV purchases, installation and facility supplies
    • Manages the documentation of the exhibitions and public programs
    • Orders catering and hospitality items for events
    • Creates/designs and ensures the production and installation of all didactic exhibition signage

    Public Programs

    • Assists with event logistics including outreach; site/permit reservations; day-of event coordination with vendors, artists, and community partners

    PR and Marketing

    • Participates in the agency-wide Communications Committee which sets goals and implements strategies to gain greater public exposure for the work of the SFAC
    • Executes web site updates and social media posts
    • Formats images and text for use on the website and in web announcements
    • Coordinates the printing and delivery of all promotional collateral
    • Database Management and Archive
    • Manages and enters artist, vendors and partner information data into the SFAC Salesforce database

     

    Intern Management

    • Build and maintain relationships with various regional academic institutions for intern recruitment
    • Manage relationship with City internship program, Opportunities for All
    • Manages the orientation, day to day work and schedule of the interns

    General Responsibilities

    • Speaks about Galleries exhibitions to school classes and other groups who attend exhibitions as needed
    • Provides front desk visitor services at the Main Gallery
    • Orders all office, maintenance and installation supplies
    • Attends SFAC and Galleries staff meeting
    • Is a liaison to the community representing the Galleries and the City of San Francisco

    • Bachelor’s Degree in an arts related field.  Masters in Arts Administration or Museum Studies also desired.
    • Understanding and interest in contemporary art
    • Excellent editing, grammar, written and verbal communication skills
    • Financial processing experience
    • Strong organizational skills
    • Customer service experience
    • Microsoft Office programs experience
    • Proficient in Adobe Photoshop and InDesign
    • Events coordination

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in an arts related field; degrees with major coursework in public or business administration, accounting, finance, economics, social sciences, education, or related field also meet minimum qualifications.
    • Substitution: May substitute up to two (2) years of the required education with additional qualifying experience in program/office/operations management, budget development and/or administration, or contract/grant administration. One year (2000 hours) of additional qualifying experience will be considered equivalent to 30 semester units/45 quarter units.

    Additional Information

    SALARY:  $73,086 - $88,894 ANNUALLY

    FILL TYPE: EXEMPT 

    WORK HOURS: FULL-TIME TUESDAY - SATURDAY 9-5:30, OCCASIONAL EVENING WORK WILL BE REQUIRED.
