    Job Description

    Under general direction the 3374 Outreach Coordinator for the Covid-19 Education and Outreach Project coordinates, manages and oversees the outreach/public information functions and addresses health disparities among San Francisco communities. Essential duties include but are not limited to:

    • Address deep-rooted causes of hesitancy among San Francisco communities to seeking COVID-19 and other non-COVID-19 health resources,
    • Link residents in neighborhoods and communities with health disparities to primary care, COVID-19 vaccines and testing, and non-COVID-19 health resources. 
    • Build trust among San Francisco communities to ensure positive health outcomes
    • Develop, implement, and measure outcome of strategies to help priority communities/neighborhoods achieve COVID-19 vaccination,  testing, and non-COVID-19 related health goals with focus on neighborhoods with health disparities 
    • Collaborate with community-based organizations and stakeholders on a regular basis in priority neighborhoods to support and facilitate community outreach efforts with regards to COVID-19 vaccination, COVID-19 testing, and connection to other non-COVID-19 health-related resources. 
    • Ensure coordination between the various community groups and convenings in priority communities 
    • Participate in regular planning and update meetings held by the Department of Public Health Task Force and Equity & Neighborhoods Team, with regular reporting out of observations, issues, and needs in the assigned neighborhoods.  
    • Participate in regular planning and update meetings to coordinate community-based efforts around vaccination and testing. 
    • Provide staffing support for COVID-19 vaccination or COVID-19 testing events as needed. 
    • Serve as the liaison between community-based organizations and the Equity & Neighborhoods team. 
    • Designs, develops and implements training and orientation classes in a variety of areas including program procedures, applicable laws and departmental policies, techniques for dealing effectively with the public, use of educational and interpretive materials, and other areas specific to department and program mission and goals.
    • Establishes and maintains contacts and relationships with schools, community and corporate groups, other City departments, community leaders, and representatives of outside agencies and the media; develops and organizes community and media events, public service announcements, press releases and other publications to promote and publicize department functions and programs.
    • Organizes and implements service learning programs, educational workshops, events and presentations to local groups, schools and civic organizations; conducts tours for visiting professionals, the media and members of the public.
    • Develops, produces and distributes newsletters, information flyers and other written material, including use of desktop publishing software, and is responsible for updating information on department/program website.
    • Maintains schedules, timesheets, files and records for volunteers, including basic database management and development of statistical data; orders and maintains supplies, tools and equipment for program.
    • Participates in fund development activities for program/department, such as organizing events, grant writing and development of partnerships with other organizations.

    The 3374 Outreach Coordinator performs related duties as required.

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - Applicants must meet minimum qualifications by the application filing deadline.

    1. Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university; AND

    2. One year (2000 hours) of experience supervising, coordinating or directing volunteer services and/or community outreach services in an organization which provides services to the public.

    Substitution: Additional experience supervising, coordinating or directing volunteer and/or community relations services, as described above, may be substituted for up to two years of the required baccalaureate degree on a year-for-year basis.

    One year of full-time employment is equivalent to 2,000 hours of work experience (2,000 hours of qualifying work experience is based on a 40 hour work week). Any overtime hours that you work above 40 hours a week are not included in the calculation to determine full-time employment.
