    Job Description

    Under general supervision, the 1093 IT Operations Support Admin III is responsible for leading a support team that provides systems and technical application support for Public Works external and internal staff.  This position identifies and resolves issues with Public Works’ various electronic systems.  This position will play a vital role on the deployment of new applications.  Application deployment includes, system testing, creating training documentation, training and providing ongoing support to all users. 

    Essential Duties:

    1.                  Provide first level technical support for Public Works staff, client departments, and contractors/consultants

    2.                  Evaluate issues and incidents and determine impact, recommend solutions, seek workarounds, and if necessary, coordinate with application engineers to provide support for all users

    3.                  Perform professional-level duties including researching, compiling, analyzing, and reconciling complex financial data to resolve technical issues and incidents

    4.                  Provide prompt, professional, and outstanding customer service on a daily basis to all users

    5.                  Inform users, management, and clients of severe problems

    6.                  Research and analyze new procedural policies to develop, assess, and coordinate new training programs

    7.                  Create, maintain, and enhance end user training materials, policies and procedures.

    8.                  Post training materials, policies, and procedures online

    9.                  Lead training development and provide and end-user training for new applications. 

    10.              Performs related duties as required

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    EDUCATION: Requires an associate degree in computer science or a closely related field from an accredited college or university OR its equivalent in terms of total course credits/units [i.e., at least sixty (60) semester or ninety (90) quarter credits/units with a minimum of twenty (20) semester or thirty (30) quarter credits/units in computer science or a closely-related field].

    EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years of experience performing analysis, installation, and technical support in a network environment. SUBSTITUTION: Additional experience as described above may be substituted for the required degree on a year-for-year basis (up to a maximum of two (2) years). One (1) year is equivalent to thirty (30) semester units / forty-five (45) quarter units with a minimum of 10 semester / 15 quarter units in computer science or a closely related field.

    SALARY: $89,934 - $111,488 annually

    APPOINTMENT TYPE: Temporary-Exempt Cat - 17 Backfill. The San Francisco Public Works Department has an opening for an exempt appointment in San Francisco. The position is excluded by the Charter from competitive civil service examination process. The successful candidate shall serve at the discretion of the appointing officer. This position has an anticipated duration of up to two (2) years or when the employee returns to work; whichever one comes first, but cannot exceed the two (2) years.
