Building Decarbonization Coordinator - Department of the Environment (Job Class 5640)
Job Description
SF Environment’s Climate Program is seeking a Building Decarbonization Coordinator to help advance programs and policies to reduce, and ultimately eliminate, emissions from the building sector. The Coordinator’s primary focus will be the San Francisco Climate Equity Hub, a three-year effort to develop a centralized outlet for critical hands-on assistance and resources for building electrification. The Climate Equity Hub will create and promote resources that are culturally competent, multi-lingual, and accessible to all residents, workers, and businesses to support San Francisco’s transition to a renewable net-zero carbon system.
The Building Decarbonization Coordinator will work within the larger Climate Team at SF Environment. As part of the team, the Coordinator will work on a range of programs that: (1) bolster the supply chain for building electrification; (2) provide training and workforce development for underserved communities/BIPOC; (3) improve buy-in for electric cooking for residents and businesses; (4) connect rebates and financing to residents, businesses, and affordable housing; and (5) improve transparency about community benefit investments from development.
The Coordinator will perform technical analysis, collect substantial and complex data, present to the public, write reports, and interact with stakeholders in support of climate action and a built environment that is both high-performing and resource-efficient. San Francisco’s policies are a model for other cities across the country and this position will contribute to climate action at the local, national, and even international level.
