    Position Description

    SFHSA is looking to hire a Content Strategist to develop and implement a web content strategy for our Agency, design and write intranet content, and partner with SFHSA’s Communications Office, the Innovation Office and the IT Department to continue to enhance and refine the technology underlying both SFHSA.org and the Agency’s intranet.

    Our communications team is responsible for connecting San Franciscans to vital social services and keeping the public informed about public assistance programs such as nutrition assistance, workforce development, health care coverage, child and adult protective services, and a wide range of programs to support our aging and adults with disabilities populations. Each year, SFHSA's 2,400-trained professionals connect more than 225,000 San Franciscans to 60+ essential services. You will help shape and modernize the way one of the most progressive human service agencies in the nation communicates about a safety net system that touches nearly one in four San Franciscans.  

    SFHSA is at an exciting juncture in our communications work. We are in the process of building a communications team and infrastructure to make our critical services more accessible to the public.

    Over the coming months and years, we will:

    • Continue to socialize a new agency brand and visual identity;
    • Develop internal and external communications plans, with targeted, data-driven outreach campaigns and materials;
    • Overhaul our major collateral materials to describe a holistic set of supports and make our quality human services more accessible to the public; and,
    • Move towards more digital, on-line delivery system of human services.

     ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS

    POSITION APPOINTMENT FOR THIS RECRUITMENT WILL REPORT TO THE DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS.

     ESSENTIAL DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

    1.       Develop and implement HSA’s overall website strategy, in partnership with HSA IT and Innovation Offices

    2.       Write concise, engaging web content that adheres to Agency guidelines for tone and voice, and is optimized for search

    3.       Partner with SFHSA program staff and end users to understand their digital communication needs

    4.       Leverage client research, analytics, and site data to develop content strategies that target user needs and support Agency objectives

    5.       Design, write and edit intranet content with a special focus on internal communication needs, staff engagement and community building

    6.       Support content governance structure of both the website and intranet

    7.       Support translation of collateral materials and web content 

    8.       Partner with SFHSA’s IT and Innovation Office to enhance and refine the technology underlying both SFHSA.org and the Agency’s intranet.

    9.       Support SFHSA’s Innovation Office and IT Department in designing and implementing an analytics strategy for both SFHSA.org and SFHSA’s intranet.

    10.   Work with SFHSA’s Learning and Organizational Development team to support training for employees accessing the website content management systems, and ensure the training is comprehensive.

    11.   Provide technical support to employees who have author access to the content management systems for SFHSA.org and/or the Agency’s intranet.

    12.   Coordinate with outside vendors and contractors to complete projects and service requests as needed.

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    1.       Education: An associate degree in computer science or a closely related field from an accredited college or university OR its equivalent in terms of total course credits/units [i.e., at least sixty (60) semester or ninety (90) quarter credits/units with a minimum of twenty (20) semester or thirty (30) quarter credits/units in computer science or a closely-related field]; AND

    2.       Experience:  Three (3) years in the information systems field, including system analysis, business process design, development and implementation of business application solutions or IT project management.

    Substitution: Additional experience as described above may be substituted for the required degree on a year-for-year basis (up to a maximum of two (2) years). One (1) year is equivalent to thirty (30) semester units / forty-five (45) quarter units with a minimum of 10 semester / 15 quarter units in computer science or a closely related field.

    DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. Proven experience in the role as web content manager and chief web editor.
    2. Experience working in Drupal content management system.
    3. Excellent creative and visual skills.
    4. Proficiency with digital photography, videography and related digital tools strongly desired. 
    5. Knowledge of UX principles to achieve functional, service-oriented and attractive digital environments for users to explore.
    6. Experience using an agile or other iterative approach to design, develop and deploy websites.
    7. Direct experience in communications project management: vendor selection, exceptional organizational skills, and experience managing multiple projects (timelines, budgets, priorities) simultaneously.
    8. Excellent relationship and consensus building skills. 
    9. Knowledge of social services programming.
