    Job Description

    TEMPORARY EXEMPT - In accordance with San Francisco Charter Section 10.104.

    Under supervision of the Chief Dietitian, the Dietetic Technician performs specialized paraprofessional clinical duties in a hospital nutrition program. Essential duties include but are not limited to:

    • Assisting the Dietitian with clinical nutrition care for patients/residents and their families;
    • Collecting basic nutritionally relevant data to identify patients/residents’ preliminary nutritional risk level and appropriate triage of nutrition information;
    • Assisting the Dietitian in providing nutrition education and counseling for patients/residents and their families;
    • Collecting pertinent clinical data from patients/ residents’ medical records;
    • Documenting nutritional risk levels of patients/residents and providing education counseling;
    • Collecting and implementing food and nutrition preferences;
    • Retrieving and assessing patients/residents or nutritional information from hospital computers;

    The Dietetic Technician also performs other related duties as assigned/required.

    Minimum Qualifications License and Certification: Possession of a credential as a Registered Dietetic Technician approved by the American Dietetic Association.

Facial hair or any condition that interferes with a face-fitting respirator’s seal (i.e., interferes with the seal between the respirator and the wearer’s bare skin) is not permitted when face-fitting respirators are worn, including during initial or periodic respirator fit-testing. Employees who choose not to shave and do not have either American Disabilities Act (ADA) or Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Accommodations do not have the right to alternate work assignments or the option of using a loose-fitting Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR) in place of a Face Fitting Respirator
