    Pursuant to San Francisco Charter Section 10.104-16, Category 16, temporary and seasonal appointments are limited to half-time (1040 hours of service) in a fiscal year.

    POSITION ONE – Psychiatric Occupational Therapist
    Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital

    The Psychiatric OT Dept is seeking OT’s that enjoy and have experience working with people who have chronic and acute mental health conditions, many of whom have co-occurring substance use issues. The OT will provide treatment in Psychiatric Emergency, Jail-Psychiatric unit, Acute and Sub-Acute Psychiatric units.

    Essential Duties Include

    • Assesses patients’ functional skills through an initial assessment and ongoing evaluation during all group and individual treatment interventions.
    • Develops individualized treatment plans and goals based on assessment findings, collaboration with multidisciplinary treatment team and patients. Conducts various tests with individual patients in order to evaluate their physical capabilities and functional level and to determine treatments.
    • Provides group and individual treatment through planning, facilitating, and grading evidenced-based practice activity, discussion, and sensory modulation interventions that are focused on teaching skills for emotional regulation, coping, socialization, self-care, and daily living.
    • Evaluates, documents, and reports all outcomes of treatment assessments and interventions.
    • Participates in multidisciplinary team meetings, and patient care discharge planning meetings as needed.
    • Performs related duties as required by the supervising Senior Occupational Therapist

    POSITION TWO – Occupational Therapist
    Laguna Honda Hospital and Rehabilitation Center

    Laguna Honda Hospital and Rehabilitation Center is a skilled nursing and rehabilitation center owned and operated by the San Francisco Department of Public Health. Located on a 62-acre campus in the heart of the city, Laguna Honda is one of the largest skilled nursing facilities in the United States and represents one of the most extensive commitments by any city or county to therapeutic care for seniors and adults with disabilities. In addition, Laguna Honda offers Acute Rehabilitation services, SNF Rehabilitation services, Long-Term SNF, and Outpatient, for residents of the City and County of San Francisco. Occupational Therapists who have experience working with the under-served population who have neurological impairments such as traumatic and acquired brain injury, spinal cord injury, as well as polytrauma and hand therapy, will be an asset. Staff may be required to work weekends and/or holidays. In addition, staff may be flexed to work at other designated SFHN locations.

    Essential Duties Include

    • Evaluates an individual’s occupational performance by using age-appropriate tests, measures, and techniques appropriate to the diagnosis, physical condition, and clinical presentation of the resident.
    • Develops and implements treatment plans based on the evaluation of the individual’s strengths and deficits, occupational-based goals, and patient/family objectives.
    • Facilitates age-appropriate areas of occupation/treatment planning which may include, ADLs, IADLs, home evaluations, community reintegration interventions, manual and physical modalities.
    • Completing and documenting written reports per facility and regulatory guidelines
    • Communicates with others in a positive, non-judgmental manner. Coordinates and confers with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other professionals.
    • Participates in discharge planning; Assesses and orders appropriate durable medical equipment.
    • Timely completion of required billing and related documentation.
    • Supervises Occupational Therapy student interns, rehabilitation aides, and/or volunteers, and participates in program development.

    • Possession of a valid Occupational Therapy License issued by the California Board of Occupational Therapy (CBOT);
      OR

    • Acceptance by the California Board of Occupational Therapy for the next examination of the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy.
