Job Description
In the Community Outreach Associate role, you will develop your career pathway in the environmental field. You will gain strong experience in communications and team leadership while developing environmental subject matter expertise.
Community Outreach Associates work on the City’s zero waste, toxics reduction, energy efficiency, clean transportation, environmental justice and climate action goals through in-person and virtual outreach to the public. This position emphasizes serving San Francisco’s diverse communities, including those that have been impacted by environmental burdens. You’ll gain skills in community outreach, implementing environmental programs, public speaking, and data reporting in Salesforce CRM. Knowledge and experience gained will position you for success as an environmental communications and outreach professional equipped to serve San Franciscans and beyond.
Additional Bilingual Pay: Proficiency in reading, writing, typing, speaking, and listening in English and Cantonese/Mandarin or English and Spanish is required for two of three positions in this vacancy. Selected bilingual candidates must pass language proficiency and proofreading tests, and upon successful completion will receive a bilingual pay stipend of $60 per pay period in addition to their base pay. Successful completion of language proficiency tests for Tagalog, Russian, Arabic, or Vietnamese also qualify for bilingual pay.

Six (6) months of professional work experience, including internships, research positions, or other experience, relevant to the duties described in the job description; OR
Completion of at least two years of college education from an accredited college or university.
