Holliday Street, MD Job Type CS Fulltime Department Public Works - Water and Waste Water Job Number 27491 Closing 1/1/2019 11:59 PM Eastern Class Description An Operations Technician Apprentice receives classroom and on-the-job training in the operation, maintenance and minor repair of mechanical and electrical equipment in a water or wastewater treatment plant. Work of this class involves no supervisory duties or responsibilities. Incumbents receive close supervision from a technical superior. Employees in this class work a rotating shift with evening, night, weekend, holiday and callback hours as required or held over until properly relieved or for emergencies. Work is performed in a water or wastewater treatment plant where there is exposure to chemical dust and fumes, extremes of heat or cold and noxious odors. Work requires moderate physical exertion. Selection Process All candidates who indicate the minimum qualifications on their applications are eligible to compete in this examination. The examination will consist of a multiple choice test. Candidates are required to make a converted score of not less than 70 on a scale of 100. The license and education of each candidate will be evaluated for appropriateness and quantity. Qualified candidates will be graded, with appointment made from all candidates within the top five scores.
