Hourly Rate: $20.00 Work Days: Part Time 25 hours a week, Monday Friday, flexible work schedule Work Hours: Varies/Possible Weekend Hours Duration: Ends December 28, 2018 Provide direct support in the management and implementation of the public art program and related activities for the City. This is accomplished by developing and administering public art projects and programs in accordance with the Durham Cultural Master Plan and Public Art Policy. Duties/Responsibilities: * Manages the implementation of temporary and permanent public art projects at various stages of development, including facilitating artist selection panels, the artist selection process, and overseeing the design, fabrication and installation of artworks. * Prepares, disseminates, and solicits Requests for Qualifications and Requests for Proposals to announce public art opportunities; negotiates contractual obligations with artists and stakeholders. * Serves as a liaison between artists and City departments, construction/project managers, relevant project stakeholders, Public Art Committee members and the public. * Establishes and maintains relationships with artists, arts organizations, businesses, and other groups. * Prepares memos, presentations, reports and other materials for City Council and Public Art Committee meetings.

    • Assists in planning and coordinating public art engagement events and dedications. * Researches, develops and pursues funding sources through grant opportunities and project funds. * Develops program evaluation metrics for public art projects and for assessing program policies and procedures. * Maintains inventory of the City's public art collection and assists with maintenance and care as needed. Minimum Qualifications & Experience: * Knowledge and skills typically acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree in arts administration, economic development, community development, public administration, public policy, or related field. * 2 or more years of experience in project management, arts administration, and/or public administration. * Proficiency in use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. * Valid NC Class C Driver's License or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.
