Maintenance Worker City of Farmington, MN - Farmington, MN 55024 $26.13

• $28.74 an hour This position is responsible for the operation and maintenance of city streets and utilities, assisting with routine maintenance of vehicles and equipment, and interacting with citizens, contractors, vendors and other public/private entities. Essential Duties: Street maintenance including tree trimming/removal, sidewalk and curb replacement, grading gravel roads and alleys, and sign maintenance; and locating all city owned utilities. Operate, repair and maintain water mains, wells, gate valves, curb stops, hydrants and hydrant flushing, and water towers. Install, inspect, repair and read water meters. Record keeping, preparing reports, conducting water sampling. Sanitary sewer: Operate, repair and maintain lift stations, sewer lines, and manholes. Monitor conditions and atmosphere in lift stations and manholes. Clean and repair storm lines, catch basins, waterways and flared ends. Perform snow plowing duties including salting, sanding, and hauling snow. Mailbox repair and replacement. Must respond to emergency requests. Responsible for operation and repair of all equipment including conducting walk around routine inspections. Rotating on-call pager dealing with water problems, sewer, storm water, natural disasters, and power outages. Requires a 5-20 minute response time. Requirements: High school diploma. 1 year specialized or technical training in heavy equipment operation; and water, sewer, and street maintenance and repair. 3 years general maintenance experience with experience in water sewer and street maintenance preferred.
