    Job Description

    Engineering Co-op interns will be utilizing the knowledge that they learn in school to assist Engineers and Architects in providing project management services to the Public Safety Team and its client agencies. The PS team manages all of the capital improvement projects for Police, Fire and center city high-rise government buildings including City Hall and others. The project managers for the PS team act as planners, designers and construction managers of capital improvement projects. The Engineering Co-op will work directly with the PS team project managers in bringing our client’s needs to reality. This internship will provide a co-op with a complete overview of all aspects of construction from initial conception (planning) to move in or certificate occupancy. Tasks includes preparing cost estimates, budgets, evaluating existing buildings, reviewing drawings and construction documents, meeting with clients, design professional and other city agencies.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Basic computer skills (Word and Excel),
    • AUTOCAD
    • Microsoft Access
    • Good communication skills are necessary.
    • Valid driver’s license preferred but not required
    • Minimum of 20hrs/wk required
    • Position can last up to 9 months
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Coursework in architectural / engineering and construction documentation

    Level(s) of Experience Sought:

    • No minimum required work experience.
    • Required Education – Currently enrolled in a college or university majoring in Business, Engineering, Architecture and Construction Management

    Additional Information

    Compensation: $15-$17/hr commensurate with experience
