  • Responsibilities

    Job Description

    The student will work in a dynamic Civil Engineering group with 14 full time engineers working on multi-faceted projects ranging in value from $50,000 to $50 Million per project. The student will assist Water Department engineers currently working on over 150 projects in many of the following range of topics: water and sewer replacement projects, including design experience; base plan preparation using AutoCAD; green infrastructure design and base plan preparation using AutoCAD; weekly field work; construction phase site visits; heavy construction projects; attending project meetings; working with PWD consultants; project estimating; utility coordination experience; trenchless technologies (including CIPP, tunneling, jack and bore, gunite); researching historical engineering data; among others. The student will be taught the building blocks of underground utility work and become familiar with PWD's standards and work flow processes."

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    Read and review plans, prepare base plans in AutoCAD, design water mains in CAD, design sewers in CAD, conduct field work, reports, etc.

    WORK-LIFE

    This is a full-time, 37.5 hrs./week, internship/co-op position set to begin in April 2023 and end in September 2023, with the possibility of being extended. Schedules will be determined during the interview process. The position may require candidates to work hybrid schedules, which means in-person and remote workdays.
