Job Description
This position will assist the Art and Design Division of the Department of Planning and Development (DPD). The primary project will be preparing a signage review guideline document with supervision and support of Art and Design staff.
The Art and Design Division oversees the Civic Design Review Committee, the Philadelphia Art Commission and the Philadelphia Housing and Development Corporation (PHDC) Percent for Art program. The Art and Design Division is committed to visualizing, promoting, and developing solutions to planning challenges that look to improve the quality of life and public realm for communities, residents, and visitors of the city.
Essential Functions
The primary responsibilities of the position will be to assist in the creation and implementation of a design review guideline for signage as performed by the Art and Design Division. The position will include:
• Reading through the existing design guidelines to consolidate existing data and information.
• Reading and simplifying the related code language.
• Illustrating the guidelines using 3D and 2D tools and software.
• Updating database sets and document reporting.
• Creating the draft of report content including texts, renderings, document templates, etc.
• Additional special projects and administrative duties as needed.
Competencies, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Qualifications
Must be a current student in a Bachelor or Master program of City Planning, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, or related field.
