    Job Description

    The City of Philadelphia is looking for a part-time Data Analyst Intern to perform various data analysis and support our Planning and Development Department in performing day-to-day operations for the Division of Housing and Community Development’s compliance unit. The future Intern should be interested in learning more about the various aspects of community housing projects, minority compliance and data analysis skills. The intern will assist in a variety of tasks including researching, data gathering, organizing, and coordinating activities for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Initiatives and project management. They will also be expected to attend and participate in daily/weekly housing project related meetings.

    Essential Functions

    Assist the compliance staff to organize existing data to analyze for making decisions.

    Data analyst interns to develop the necessary skills and knowledge in minority compliance for housing construction projects.

    Preferably candidates currently enrolled in an undergraduate program preferably in data science, computer science, or a related field.

    Organize existing data suitable to analyze by minority compliance specialists and managers to make valuable project control decision making process.

    Competencies, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and Google sheets for data analysis and augmentation.

    Some analytical skills and familiarity with data visualization tools like Microsoft Power BI, Tableau and SQL.

    Basic computer skills in creating new project folders, extracting data and naming new folders with actual project names.

    Skills in:

    • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and e-mail

    • Excellent organizational and planning skills

    • Exceptional written and oral communication skills

    Ability to:

    • Effectively learn and acquire new knowledge and skills

    • Share knowledge and work in a strong team-oriented environment

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Enrolled in an accredited college/university program.
