PWD Development Services Internship - 117
Job Description
The selected candidate will join the Utility Plan Review team and be responsible for reviewing and approving private infrastructure drawings and verifying if designs adhere to city codes. Development projects seeking a Building Permit from the Department of Licenses & Inspections or any project proposing a new connection to PWD infrastructure must first obtain PWD Utility Plan approval. PWD’s Utility Plan review looks for project information, utility conflicts, ROW conflicts, connection location, size, and types as well as other potential issues. Utility Plan reviewers directly communicate with engineers, architects, MEPs, plumbers, developers and owners for approvals, deficiencies, and any clarifications. PWD Utility plan review also coincides with other required reviews including, but not limited to pipe size analysis, meter sizing, backflow compliance, stormwater management, green stormwater infrastructure, and private cost engineering design.

Qualifications
PREFERRED MAJORS INCLUDE:
Civil Engineers, Architectural Engineers, Environmental Engineers
PREFERRED SKILLS:
This position will require a baseline understanding of engineering principles, reading plans as well as strong communication skills. Candidates must be able to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences and develop an understanding of the City’s codes, regulations, and permitting process to provide a base level of customer service to applicants.
