  • Responsibilities

    Job Description

    The Hearing Officer conducts in-person and ex-parte hearings to review testimony and documentary evidence to resolve Code Violations, Red Light Camera, Speed Camera, and Residential Disability Parking hearings.

    The Hearing Officer is also responsible for case management of a tax category for the Tax Review Board. This includes processing petitions, entering information into our OARS database, entering determinations into the system, communicating with the Department of Revenue and other departments regarding.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Responsibilities include administrative review and adjudication of disputed issues. The successful candidate will be able to evaluate documents and testimony to, within applicable law, render decisions and communicate the decision to the party making the appeal.
    • Additionally, this position will require clerk skills including evaluating and processing petitions, entering data into various systems, communicating with petitioners, and maintaining the category.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    Applicants must have:

    • A high school diploma; Bachelor’s Degree a plus.
    • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
    • Ability to work and make sound decisions in a stressful and very fast-paced environment

    COMPETENCIES, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    • Excellent communication skills.
    • Eye for detail and accuracy.
    • Familiarity with City systems and processes including eTIMS, OARS, and PPA vendor systems
    • Familiarity with City Codes and regulations

    SALARY RANGE: $40,200
