PWD PES Linear Asset Management Internship/Co-op - 137
Job Description
The selected candidate working in LAMP will be expected to take on a variety of tasks related to water and sewer infrastructure systems. Candidates with an interest in the connection between long term strategic linear asset planning, condition assessment, capital funding and risk based project prioritization may be the best match for the position. These efforts require a self-motivated mindset and strong skills in data analysis, data source review, PWD units and divisions coordination, reports and presentations preparation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
•Participate and assist in regularly scheduled meetings. •Assist in the preparation of technical reports. •Utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software at an intermediate functional level to (1) perform geospatial analysis, (2) assist in the development and analysis of capital planning alternatives, and (3) produce graphics and maps. •Evaluate field reports. •Conduct cost estimates of Capital Projects. •Develop an understanding of the linear asset characteristics in Philadelphia. •Develop and maintain relationships with PWD's planning, engineering, and operational units to solicit information relevant to the Capital Planning Process. •Develop competency in the Infowater hydraulic modeling software for the water distribution system in support of planning activities. •Apply engineering knowledge to analyze water and wastewater systems for condition and renewal/replacement methodologies.

Preferred Major – Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Structural Engineering
WORK-LIFE
This is a full-time internship/co-op position set to be for 6 months, with the possibility of being extended. Schedules will be determined during the interview process, candidates can work up to 37.5 hrs a week. The position may require candidates to work hybrid schedules, which means in-person and remote workdays.
