    Job Description

The Division of Aviation’s (DOA) Summer Internship Program provides a unique opportunity for undergraduate college students to learn about and contribute to a city department that manages operations for an airport serving the nation’s 6th largest metropolitan area. The program hosts the best and brightest from around the country, exposing the rising generation of workforce to careers in aviation.

DOA’s Summer Internship Program consists of THREE MAIN COMPONENTS:

    • PROJECT-BASED LEARNING:  Develop aptitude by completing substantive work assignments that accomplish objectives set by supervisor(s)
    • PROFESSIONAL TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT: DOA staff, consultants, guest speakers and leaders in aviation cover a variety of topics, including: Emotional Intelligence, Leadership Training, Personal Branding, Financial Literacy, Public Speaking, etc.
    • THE FUTURE OF WORK IN AVIATION: Through partnerships with internal & external partners, interns will be exposed to the impact of artificial intelligence (AI), automation and STEM careers on jobs of the present and future, while also learning about skillsets necessary to become viable candidates for those opportunities

There will also be occasional group outings to locations throughout the Philadelphia area (I.e. City Hall, City Council Chambers, Aviation Institute of Maintenance, etc.)

DOA selects applicants with wide-ranging areas of study from high schools throughout the Greater Philadelphia region. Interns will support a variety of DOA departments, including: Executive Offices, Human Resources, Public Affairs, Finance, Properties, Information Technology (IT), Law, Government Affairs, Environmental Services, and Facilities/Maintenance.
