    Job Description

    The Video Surveillance team is responsible for managing the City of Philadelphia’s Police Video Surveillance equipment and network; including video management software administration, maintain storage data and integrating video feeds from external sources. The Video Surveillance program grew from 100+ cameras to 1300+ cameras. With an increase of approximately 10 – 11 cameras per month, the VSS field team requires a dedicated VSS Infrastructure lead to liaison between VSS, network and GIS teams. This position will lend expertise in VSS infrastructure, architecture and design, GIS mapping and network connectivity, as it relates to wireless and non-wireless VSS solutions. The successful candidate must reside in the City of Philadelphia or establish primary residence in the City of Philadelphia within six months of employment. Performance of position summary and essential functions must be provided with the highest level of customer service and pleasant demeanor. The candidate must be professional as well as provide quality customer service in a high volume and fast-paced environment. Candidate must possess the ability to be flexible with work schedule when required.

    Essential Functions
    • Maintain ARC GIS
    • Design and build fiber infrastructure for growth capacity
    • Record, manage IP information database
    • Implement hybrid system (fiber, radio and ethernet)
    • Troubleshoot, repair VSS network
    • Provide architectural leadership to support video surveillance projects
    • Develop proof-of-concept prototypes and initial implementation models
    • Ensure implementation of video surveillance solution supports objectives (availability, scalability, performance, security and network) as appropriate
    • Establish relationships with VSS, network and GIS teams as well as other department contacts
    • Ensure infrastructure, architect and design are in Office of Innovation & Technology compliance
    • Perform site surveys
    • Ability to understand and communicate complex concepts to team members
    • Mentor VSS team members
    • Serve as a backup for troubleshoot and resolve camera issues
    • Interact with third party vendors, video surveillance equipment vendors
    • Interact with customers as needed, providing exceptional customer service
    • Follow directives provided by the Executive Team & Unified Communications Management
    • Remain current in video surveillance, network and architect developments for equipment and industry changes or impacts; attends training sessions as necessary
    • Maintain safe and clean work environment
    • Maintain a professional image and attitude

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience
    • Network certification a plus
    • 3-5 years’ experience in video surveillance network system
    • 3-5 years’ experience in IT Infrastructure & Operations [government agency experience a plus]

    Additional Information

    Salary Not to Exceed: $75,000

    Starting salary to be determined based on experience and qualifications.
