    Mayor's Office Human Relations Commission Director $42,319 - $46,251 Non-Union The City of Providence is seeking a Director for the Providence Human Relations Commission. The Human Relations Commission was established to provide a focal point for community-centered, positive leadership and to foster mutual understanding and respect among City of Providence residents, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity or expression, religion, marital status, sexual orientation, disability, age, or country of ancestral origin. Duties & Responsibilities The Director performs their work with a focus on equity and outreach in accordance with guidance from the Mayors Administration and Board members. The Director is responsible for supporting, implementing, and evaluating all aspects of the Commission's work. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 1. Attending and leading monthly meetings of assigned Boards and Commissions related to diversity, equity, and positive community relations 2. Leading support to assigned Boards and Commissions and City departments on policy initiatives around equity and inclusion 3. Working with internal & external stakeholders to organize public forums and a diverse array of community events 4. Establishing and maintaining relationships with community and professional organizations, and City and State government agencies 5. Collaborating with said organizations, agencies, and departments to develop and execute programs related to diversity, equity, and positive community relations 6. Monitoring federal compliance regulations 7. Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications 1. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as a documented ability to provide strong leadership; 2. Must have a strong appreciation for and commitment to equity, diversity, community, and cultural relations; 3. A working knowledge of current City, State, and Federal anti-discrimination legislation and familiarity with HUD and ADA compliance is preferred. 4. The successful candidate must possess a Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university, have a minimum of three (3) years of experience in the field of social relations, or have an equivalent combination of education and experience.
