    John Chavis Community Center Intern Salary $9.25 Hourly Location Raleigh, NC Job Type Intern Department PRC Recreation Job Number 2018-00152 Closing 4/30/2018 11:59 PM Eastern Job Description Programs, markets, and assists in several different aspects of the Parks and Recreation Department on a part time schedule. Assists in planning, organizing, and implementing programs, summer camps and other special events.Including but not limited to; youth and adult programming. Promotes recreation programs throughout the community through social media and develop brochures/ fliers. Works with facility supervisors to assist/shadow and or perform assigned tasks for the facility within the department, including; recreation, administration, marketing and maintenance. Prepares reports on recreation activities as directed by supervisor including activity schedules, memos, write-ups and evaluations. Will oversee with assistance of supervisor's summer programs. Set up and break down of events. Includes set up and break down of tables and chairs, moving equipment as needed, and cleaning up affected areas. Attend meetings associated with the Department and other affiliated groups; including department staff meetings, staff trainings, and parent/volunteer trainings and meetings. Typical Qualifications Minimum Requirements: High School Diploma required and experience/education in Parks and Recreation or related field is preferred. Declared Major/Minor within the Parks and Recreation Leisure Services, Physical Education or related field of study or other related degree, with an approved Educational Institution. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel. Knowledge of Window's based software for producing brochures and promotional materials, and processing reservations. Working knowledge of standard English grammar, spelling, and punctuation, and ability to prepare detailed reports and properly operate various office equipment, such as computer, printer, calculator and telephone. Ability to work alone, on several tasks, and with others in a team environment, and understand and follow written and oral instructions, with minimal supervision and ability to complete task in a timely fashion. Ability to delegate and disseminate assignments in a timely matter; document and record mandatory documents accordingly.
