ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: * Operates, cares for and maintains assigned trucks and equipment. * Makes emergency calls when requested during off duty hours (24 hour call). * Traps live rats, birds and mosquitoes for use in laboratory testing for detection of communicable diseases. * Sprays insecticides and pesticides. * Acts as representative between the department and the general public, answering questions or alleviating problems concerning environmental sanitation. * Inspects public property, drains standing water or sprays with chemicals for mosquito control. * Maintains vehicle and spraying equipment. * Conducts neighborhood vector and rodent surveys. * Prepares written daily reports. * Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required. JOB REQUIREMENTS: * High school diploma or GED equivalent (recognized by the Texas Education Agency or a regional accrediting agency). * One (1) year experience in labor or maintenance work. * This position requires a valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License OR valid driver's license from another state with the ability to obtain a valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident.
