Job Description
Under general direction, direction, is responsible for overseeing efforts to retain and acquire air service at the San Antonio International Airport. Conducts research, provides data, make recommendations and implements solutions to execute strategies to retain and acquire air service. May exercise supervision over assigned staff.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Develops and executes short and long-term domestic and international air service development strategic objectives, key initiatives and tactical plans to expand air service and increase airport usage.
- Makes presentations to senior level airline executives, business and community leaders on strategic airport initiatives. Conducts outreach to educate and influence target audiences about positive economic impact to region or country.
- Coordinates and prepares reports and correspondence in response to requests for information from City Manager’s Office, Mayor, and City Council Offices; prepares City Council agenda material such as ordinance memorandums and presentations.
- In collaboration with the Aviation Marketing Manager, negotiates agreements with airline executives and business leaders concerning new or expanded air service.
- Conducts research to identify passenger and air cargo wants and needs of a region. Makes air service projections and identifies target markets for service increases.
- Performs complex statistical and financial analyses to support the strategic plan for air services development.
- Manage the performance of professional staff in work involving organizational structure review, operations research and related work reviewing the Aviation Department, divisions and programs.
- Serve as department representative at conferences and meetings and liaison with airlines, tenants, public agencies and other regional contracts.
- Oversee initiative to identify and develop the expansion of international and domestic passenger and air cargo services.
- Assist with planning marketing programs that strengthen, promote and enhance the airport’s air passenger and cargo services.
- Negotiates agreements with airline executives and business leader concerning new or expanded air service.
- Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.
